{ The Obsession Grows... }

Photo: SOLD #636 - Bay Saddlebred Gelding. Age: 10. Height: 16.1. Price: $225. Extremely friendly treat/att'n hound in the pen, rode through quiet & willing at a walk & trot. Needs an owner with experience bringing back underweight horses.

Total Cost With Fees: $363.00

Notes: This social butterfly was tied at the rail and made it his business to greet everyone who walked in his direction. He is quiet, gentle, polite and a major treat & attention hound who seemed to crave human contact. In the ring it was announced that he had been "worked to death & never fed". He rode through quietly, was very willing & showed nice suspension but did not have the classic high kneed gait. On Thursday he was easy to catch, easy to handle & stood quietly for his pictures. When asked he eagerly trotted out in hand & when his leader ran faster he gamely stepped into a quiet, collected little canter. Didn't try to run ahead and stopped as soon as his leader did but that just goes to show how willing this guy is. He would likely be suitable for an Advanced beginner but more importantly he needs a home with someone who has experience bringing back underweight horses.

If you follow me on Twitter/Facebook you'll notice this past month has been a bit Horsey. Partly because I finally have my Mare here close by, then found out she's lame so we're only doing lite walks from now on, and I discovered a place to save Slaughter bound horses. So my obsession has grown from being slightly obsessed to full on research stalk mode. Not a lot of stealth mind you, but a whole lot of Stalking.

For some reason the whole idea of saving, rehabbing, and bonding with a horse that was in such distress highly appeals to me. It could be because I love pound puppies, and this slaughter house ending is much worse than any pound ending ever.

So I've been researching and reaching out to other people who have been adopting from the program and I'm keeping an eye out like a crazy Stage 5 Clinger. 2 separate programs will be posting information from 2 separate auctions with Slaughter Bound Horses that are available later tonight. You can bet I'll be stalking these 2 Facebook pages like crazy. You can stalk  follow them too Here & Here.

Feel free to find your next horse, first horse, or just donate to help them out. The 2nd link accepts donations on all of the horses. Every donation helps and every horse deserves a different ending than the one they're marked for. Here are some pictures of recent rescues:

Yep that is a baby, happens all the time they've even had a few born there. As well as the donkey above ended up being pregnant and had a healthy baby boy in her new home.

Thank Ladies!
